This world-class, white sand beach is less than 8 minutes from your doorstep. If you continue driving past the main entry point for the beach, you can find much more private sections of beach a few more kilometers down the road and off the beaten path!

Itineraries

Located close to Malpeque, this beach is one of the best on the Island! White sand beach with the backdrop of red cliffs that are unique to PEI. Great for a day at the beach or for birding in the early morning or evening. Head to the Malpeque Oyster Barn for lunch or dinner to get some of the freshest Oysters on the Island.

Just a short 10 minute drive from the cabin, the Blue Mussel Cafe can be found on Rustico Harbour. This is one of our favourite restaurants on the Island- they make good, honest & local food. Make an afternoon or evening of it and visit Rustico Beach, walk the boardwalk and check out the adorable shops. The BMC does not take reservations, but you can put yourself on their waitlist by visiting their website: https://bluemusselcafe.com

I've placed the Dunes in an itinerary, because visiting their gallery, gardens and cafe is certain an event. You can spend the better part of an afternoon or evening exploring admiring their gardens or browsing their impressive collection of local art & crafts. It's only a 6-minute drive from the cabin. Their cafe is also excellent! They do not take reservations for lunch, but for dinner, you can call ahead to reserve. http://www.dunesgallery.ca

A historical Island property circa 1895. Spend the afternoon or an evening exploring the grounds, visiting the incredible beaches nearby and then nestle in for a refreshment by one of their 3 enormous, open-hearth fireplaces. Their sticky-date pudding is Island famous and a must-try!

Groceries

If you're planning to get groceries somewhere close to the cabin, we highly recommend Gallant's. For such a small shop, they're very well stocked with fresh seafood & meats and the best Island produce! They also have ADL ice-cream by the scoop.

If you have time on your way off the Island, stop at the Charlottetown Farmer's Market - they have great local foods, coffee, beer, spirits and art!

Richard’s is about an 8 minute drive from the cottage and totally worth it. Their lobster rolls are some of the best on PEI! The lines can be quite long, so we recommend going when they open in the morning. There’s a lovely beach & lighthouse just on the other side of the wharf, which is great to visit before or after your meal.
