Beautiful white sand beach, great for bodysurfing and boogie boarding. Also known as Magic Sands Beach, the name is derived from the beach’s tendency to completely vanish overnight, ergo some also call it “Disappearing Sands.” During high winter surf, the ocean carries the sand away, revealing the dark lava rock below. When the winter’s tide ceases, the ocean currents slowly move the sand back onto the shore. Although this can take several months, the recurring flush of the sand keeps it clean.

Must see historical park, located 15 miles from the condominium. Arguably the best snorkeling on the island is located immediately adjacent to the park entrance (snorkeling area is called “2-step”). Set on the rugged and beautiful south Kona coast, the ‘place of refuge’ or ‘city of refuge’ was a safe haven for those that broke the Kapu laws, which in old Hawaii were punishable by death. If you reached the Puʻuhonua, you would be pardoned by Kahuna and given a second chance at life. A sacred site, carrying the powerful mana of 23 interred Aliʻi chiefs, the Puʻuhonua and Royal Grounds were used by the Hawaiians for centuries.
