Sightseeing

The island is at its best at high tide, where you can swim off the main beach with small bait fish that you can hand feed, the water is crystal clear and protected from the outer surf break. Our favorite spot is in front of the old Time Share resort, you get the beach to yourself and can swim from high to mid tide. At times when the tide is out, there are still plenty of places to explore, the pick of the bunch is at the end of the peninsula, past the island bar, take your mask and snorkel and swim amongst the many coral reefs nearby. For the kids, you can see many tropical fish in the Marina, going about their lives.

If you have kids then I highly recommend a trip up to Plantation Island. They really cater for young children. Firstly the beach has beautiful white sand which you can swim in at any tide. They have a large inflatable floating playground for hours of entertainment and also slides and playgrounds on land. A pool table, table and tennis court as well as a basketball complete the onsite activities.

Further afield, it is very easy to get off the island. Both Musket Cove and Plantation book day trips out to the sandbar for amazing snorkelingfor all ages, my kids love it out there and it is only 10minute boat trip. They also offer deep water snorkeling as well which is also close by. In the Marina you can book dive trips with the staff doing 2 dive trips per day over many amazing sites. It is also possible to book boat trips thru the village guides and book private trips out the the surf, fishing or visit one of the many other resorts.

Although not great for young kids, it is fantastic for the young at heart. A perfect fix of fun, food and frivolous behavior. Great cocktails and definitely the best pizzas in Fiji, especially as they are whipped up out ona beautiful Fijian reef. Snorkeling is OK, with some small fish about but be warned that you must book as it gets very busy. Also remember your wallet as it can be very expensive for a whole day of eating and drinking.

Great facilities, great music, great food, great drinks, just plain great. Book a boat for the day and head over to Malamala Beach club, the only 1 of its kind in Fiji. Book a daybed by the pool and bar area and you won't be disappointed. The reef is just off the beach and snorkeling, kayaking, paddle boarding are available to use and jumping off the jetty is a must.
