Wurtsmith Air Museum occupies three old fighter hangars at the Oscoda-Wurtsmith Airport. These hangars are filled with hundreds of interesting artifacts from the 1920’s to Desert Storm. The Wurtsmith area is filled with pictures and memorabilia representing the base’s rich history, 1953 to 1993. Planes on display include a T-33 Trainer, a CG-4 A glider, a 3/4 scale WWI Loehle SE-5A bi-plane, an L-19 Bird Dog being restored, and lighter planes. Children may sit in the small white plane and use their imagination to “fly”.
The gift shop has postcards, patches, pins, caps, shirts, mugs, DVD’s, magnets, airplane models, toys, jewelry, and more at reasonable prices.

Oscoda
Oscoda is about 10 miles south of the Blue Haven Beach Resort.
Lincoln Street is the “Main Street” - at the eastern most end is the lake with a beautiful beach with nets for beach volleyball, a nice pavilion to host picnics, and two jungle gyms at the south and north ends of the beach. Down the Main Street there are quite a few boutiques, knick-knack type of shops, restaurants, ice cream parlors (I recommend Marions for Ice Cream and Village Chocolatier for candy), movie theatre, etc.

So many things to see and do in Alpena. I like to think of it as the Traverse City of the East side. An internet search of downtown Alpena and things to do will give you an abundance of information and ideas. They often have festivals and fairs that might be happening during your time at the Blue Haven.

About the area:
Pass by the crowds of Tawas and Oscoda and come stay with us in Greenbush this summer! We are located just south of the Harrisville State Park campground and the charming village of Harrisville, Michigan, which features restaurants, Sturgeon Point Lighthouse, a new brew pub restaurant, marina, and trout pond, all within a ten-minute drive. We are just north of a restaurant, and a party store. Offsite activities Include:
