Local Markets and Susan's favorite things to do in the area. Ladysmith Farmers Market- Summer Market - Saturdays from 11 am to 3 pm- Transfer Beach Park (very small market) Transfer Beach- "Concerts in the Park" on Sunday evening from 6 to 8 pm at the Transfer Beach Amphitheatre- Ladysmith Maritime Society- Marina- visit the Harbour Heritage Center and the Maritime Museum on the LMS dock. Harbour tours are scheduled in the summer months. "Dine on the Dock" every second Friday night at the LMS docks. May 20th to August 26th. Buy tickets from LMS. Cedar Farmers Market- at the Crow & Gate Pub- Sunday's 10 am to 2pm (May to October) & then enjoy lunch at the Crown & Gate Pub Walk the Cable Bay Trail to Dodd's Narrows to watch the tide changes and boats bucking the tides in the narrow channel. Nanaimo- Dingy Dock Pub- take the Protection Island Ferry & also go for a walk around Newcastle Island on the same trip. Coombs- Goats on the Roof - near Parkville (50 minute drive). Enjoy the Errington Farmers Market on Saturdays from 10- 1pm. Also go for a walk at Englishman River falls or Cathedral Grove to see the giant Douglas Fir tree's.. Chemainus Wednesday Market -10:00 to 3pm (Summer) from May 25th to Sept 21st, 2016 Chemainus Theatre Festival- great buffet dinner and a play (Note that the theater is so small the economy/ cheapest seats offer great views). Buy tickets in advance. Saison's Market Vineyard- open on Saturday and Sunday Just north of Duncan. Great Tuscany style bakery...sit on the deck over looking the fields. Bird's Eye Cove in Genoa Bay - Pizza Night on Monday and Wednesday from 4 to 8 pm from mid May to mid September. Yummy and casual- Brick Oven Pizza. .. bring your own wine and a blanket. Kinsol Trestle Bridge- nice walk south of Duncan Lots of wineries in the Cowichan Valley.
