Sightseeing

During apple season (August to November), Grandad's has both U-Pick and pre-picked apples, a fantastic bakery, corn maze, animal train and more! Henderson County is the number one apple producer in North Carolina. They also have jams & jellies, cider, and other goodies. Their apple caramel oatmeal cookies are to die for!

The view from the top reminds me of The Sound of Music. You can't help but burst into "Climb Every Mountain". Depending upon the time of year, the cows grazing at the top will appreciate the music!

The number one attraction in western North Carolina...The house is amazing. but the grounds are often overlooked. Definitely worth the price of admission, and make sure to do the audio tour.

Their guided tour is fantastic and FREE, although reservations are required as participants are limited. Plus beer tasting after the tour. Whenever we have out of town guests, this tour is one of our musts.

A beautiful spot to walk, but made entirely magical during the holidays when the Winter Lights cast their spell. Don't miss it!
