The Blue Cafe is a super-local neighbourhood institution. It's a little expensive (and a bit tatty these days) but definitely worth at least one visit.

Cafe Puka is a very local spot known for their yummy freshly-made food. We haven't eaten there many times but have never been disappointed.

For a delicious and well-priced breakfast, walk down to Beleza (cr Burnside + Kloof Nek). Their basic breakfast is around $1 and the coffee is excellent. The place doubles as a vintage clothing store.

The Power and The Glory is our local. They are open for breakfast but it's best for lunch and beers in the evening. Everything on the menu is a tasty treat; the hotdog and beef pie are our favourites.
