The best Mexican in the region. This newly opened restaurant with great atmosphere offers both classics and unique menu items. The family business started with a smaller restaurant in Forest Hill (south on Hwy 165), which is still open and set in a small town amidst lush forestlands.

Parks & Nature
Lake, boat launch, beach, hiking/biking trails. From the boat launch or beach, it's just a short 15-20 minute hike to an active eagle's nest. The adult pair are here from about November to May. Each Spring we expect one to three hatchlings.

Outstanding CCC-built trail of 1.5 miles featuring moderate changes in elevation. Climb limestone buttes (yes, in Louisiana!) for beautiful overviews of the surrounding forest. Then, descend into bottomlands for a change of flora. Swallow water crossings. Check out the Backbone Trail for a more challenging hike.

Kisatchie Bayou in this spot will remain you more of mountain stream than a lazy Louisiana bayou. Rapids, rocks to climb, sand beach, picnic and campground, in a remote piece of the Kisatchie National Forest. Be aware: water rises quickly after rains. Accessible only by dirt roads.

The Alexandria Convention Center is nearby, too, as is Alexandria's Holocaust Memorial. St. Francis Xavier Cathedral offers lovely architecture, as does the art deco Post Office and U.S. Courthouse. Also, enjoy Red River views and local festivals.
