Food Scene

The Watermelon sponge cake is amazing and they make a great coffee. Also while not many people go there for their breakfast they do an amazing croissant with gypsy sauce, cheese and free range ham.

If you like wine and cheese you have to make a stop here. You sit at tiny tables or at the "Cheese Bar" as the cheesemonger (apparently that is their title) talk to you about what kind of cheese you are in the mood for. My tip - try the Holy Goat - it is amazing!

Yep it's burgers, and yep there are only a few things on the menu but wow they are good! The chef is ex-Porteno (an amazing restaurant in Surry Hills) who wanted a change and decided to set up the 'best burger' place in Sydney. They use a combination of three different cuts of meat in their burger, and the most amazing sauce! To top it off the decor is dark and features Slayer lyrics everywhere, making it a pretty fun, rock n roll type night out. My hot tip is order the Bloody Mary - it is amazing and comes with a piece of cheese, pickled onion and piece of bacon as garnish. By the way there are no signs, but you will know the place by the line and the bouncer outside.

Drinks & Nightlife

You want good beer - head here! It's not open late so make sure you get in early. It's a cool place and I just found out the head brewer is a woman, and boy does she know how to make a good beer. Sometimes on the weekends they have food trucks park in the driveway which makes for a pretty fun atmosphere.

Sightseeing

This might be a funny thing to suggest but in the heart of Newtown is Camperdown Park, a great place with a playground and lots of space for picnics and parties. But even cooler is inside the middle of the park is an extremely old cemetery that is absolutely beautiful.
