Drinks & Nightlife

Tio Pepe's is a traditional cantina, elegant and friendly, casual and easygoing. Great for botanas, or snacks, and cold beer and conversation. Old men playing dominoes beside hipsters hugging half carafes of house wine.

National gallery of Mexico. Iconic building. Sometimes there are early morning classical music concerts for 30 pesos. Usually a highlighted exhibition is going on. Saw Herbie Hancock play there once, incredible.

Parks & Nature

One of the biggest parks inside a city in the world. Mexico City can be hectic, however once inside the forest park it seems like you are oddly in a completely natural forest. Can barely hear the traffic outside!! Great for a run, if you run, and wonderful for laying around in the grass with a book.

Shopping

Almost every foreign person must go to La Ciudadela and the Mercado de Artesanias. They usually end up there anyway. Many hand made crafts, rings, pottery, souvenirs etc. Beside the market is the plaza where on Saturday's the old folks dance Danzon. Interesting and enjoyable to sit and watch or take part. You can have drinks and listen to music.
