già a partire dal suo stesso nome Che significa chiave, Chiavari si presenta come una città ricca di sorprese. chi la visita non può che essere assorbito dai suoi lunghissimi Portici che dominano il centro storico. sono molte le curiosità da scoprire, sia di tipo religioso con la cattedrale le tante chiese, il Cristo nero, le apparizioni mariane, sia di tipo archeologico storico e architettonico. Di particolare rilievo il museo archeologico con moltissimi reperti provenienti dalla più grande necropoli scoperta nel nord Italia, molti palazzi storici e medievali sino alla ex colonia fascista monumento del periodo razionalista.

il castello di Chiavari è stato edificato nel 1146 e fu impiegato come strumento di difesa contro i Malaspina della Lunigiana che cercarono storicamente sempre di impossessarsi di Chiavari.

venne costruito nel 1630 da Bartolomeo bianco su commissione della famiglia costaguta. il signor Giuseppe Rocca da cui prende il nome fu l'ultimo proprietario facoltoso. ritornato dal Sudamerica arricchito acquistò il palazzo, lo ristrutturò e ne fece una villa dotata di tutti i confort dell'epoca è importato meravigliose piante esotiche che pian tumori fece crescere nel grandissimo giardino, oggi diventato un parco botanico visitabile.

On the second week end of each month you can also shop an antique flea market and the last saturday and sunday of each month a tipical italian traditional food market.
