Sadly, the iconic 59er diner was destroyed in a fire of June 2016. However, the resilient owners are rebuilding and as of now have a food truck there with milkshakes and a few essentials. The milkshakes are legendary!

The Squirrel Tree was just bought by a new owner in 2017. They are working on making some great improvements, including a new bar and better food. It is worth checking this out to see how it evolves, I think the new owners have some exciting ideas!

This is a really wonderful cafe with great staff and incredible food. The warm scones are a local secret. They come out around 8am every morning and are legendary.

This place is really amazing as a nicer sit-down restaurant with Pacific Northwest fare. Excellent date night. Lots of unique local fresh and wild ingredients.

This is a close trail that will take you to the top of Nason Ridge, the ridge you can see from the hot tub. Incredible hike with views of the central cascades and Glacier Peak.

This is one of the most beautiful rivers on the planet. It is well worth the drive just to head up and check it out from the road. There are also numerous hikes that originate in this gorgeous valley, which is the gateway to the Glacier Peak Wilderness.

It is a long hike for one day, but if you can lay your eyes on the Napeequa Valley you will never be the same. It is a picturesque glacial valley that makes me proud to live here and helps me understand why this is my place.

It is worth it to head up here to check out Icicle Creek, even by car. There are plenty of roadside parks and campgrounds for swimming. Also, if you are a rock climber, you know what is up here. This is the gateway to the famous and popular Enchantment Lakes.

If you want a taste of the famous Enchantment Lakes but dont have the gear or a permit to camp overnight, this is the best day hike you can do. It is a long day for most people, so be prepared! The reward of swimming in Colchuck Lake is worth the effort. Note that it is often still snowy up here through early June...so dont be deceived by the hot weather down in Leavenworth.

If you like it steep, try out the double-black diamond Wildkatz chute. It is one of the steepest most-consistent inbound runs I have ever skied anywhere. If you dont like it steep, there are PLENTY of easy options for learning.

If you dont like it steep, there are PLENTY of easy options for learning.
These folks will make sure you have fun on the river. Try the "hot laps" option if you are pressed for time, the Wenatchee has the best whitewater in the state, you won't be disappointed!

This is the most accessible area for beginner backcountry skiing and snowshoeing. Give me a call if you are an avid backcountry skiier and I will give you plenty of tips on where to go.

The Alpine Lakes High Camp is 8 miles behind the cabin, in the Chiwaukum wilderness. If you want to check it out, it is a full day hike or ski round trip. You can also mountainbike up there. I know the owners well so give me a call if you are interested in more details. The mountainbiking between the cabin and the camp is top-notch...there are probably 20-30 custom jumps and obstacles, and if you prefer to not get radical, you can always stay on the gradually sloped dirt road.
