Toyoda's has been a Lake City Institution for 30 years. It's not fancy and you have to go early to avoid the lines, but their sushi is magnificent. Parking in back.

This park is tiny but it packs a big punch: paved trails and bridges over the ponds. You can often spot bald eagles, herons and (if you're really lucky) beavers and otters. The public swimming pool and playground is right across the street. The park is free.

Our local park (10 minutes from the house) includes a playground, basketball hoop, and nice fields. In the summer, the beach is staffed with life guards and there is a swimming area and dock.

This is our local public swimming pool (indoor). Look up their website for open swim times. Also , the community center next door has classes and a great toddler open gym, if you need rainy day activities for young kids.

The famous Burke Gilman Trail runs from Ballard all the way up to Redmond and you can jump on it just a few minutes from the house. Perfect for walking, running, or bicycling. It used to be an old railroad so it's relatively flat.
