New American with a heavy Italian influence. There are Negronis on tap and Pammy herself is often there to greet you. This is a great date night spot, but you'll want to go early or make a reservation as it gets pretty busy.

"Global tapas." The menu is creative and delicious. This place also gets very busy at dinnertime but it's easy to get a table at lunch during the week.

New England has great casual seafood, but this is the perfect place for more inventive fare (we love the blue crab and angel hair pasta). If you're looking for oysters, this is a great spot. The cocktails are also amazing (and they have the best mocktails around).

This is a casual, family-friendly spot with very tasty Szechuan food. Make sure to get the soup dumplings. Dry hot chicken and fish with tofu are two other favorites.

An Irish pub with way better food than you'd expect. Get a Guinness and the shepherd's pie. Or the fish and chips. Or the veggie burger. You cannot go wrong! They also have live Irish music on the weekends. Tell them that Juliana and Brendan sent you.

Good cocktails and upscale bar food. The cheeseburger is quite good. This place is also a five minute walk away, so that's nice.

This place doesn't look like anything special from the street, but it's extremely popular and consistently on lists of best local restaurants. Reservations recommended for dinner, though you might get lucky with a spot at the sushi bar if you go early. We like to go for a weekday lunch date.

An old-fashioned greasy spoon diner in the middle of Cambridge. Go in the morning, sit at the counter, and get eggs, pancakes, bacon, hash browns... and of course a bottomless cup of coffee.

A little farther away, this has some of the best pizza in Cambridge (for the best pizza in the Boston area, you'll have to travel to East Boston for Santarpio's). The seasonal vegetable sides are pretty good too. Obama ate here once!

We love this little ice cream shop in Inman Square. It's gotten a little more expensive and a little busier than it used to be, but we still walk past closer ice cream shops to go here on warm evenings.
