Here are some ideas of local places to visit that should appeal to all ages
From the cottage take the coastal path and walk the scenic route (1.5 miles) or if you are not feeling energetic take a short drive in the car. There is a pay and display car park at the top of the village - for a small fee you can ride the electric tram to the centre. Here you will find many quaint shops, cafes, pubs, art galleries and restaurants. There is also a museum and a model village to visit.

You can get the ferry across from Bodinnick or Polruan either with your car or as a foot passenger. There is a lovely walk if you drive to Lantic Bay car park (free for NT members) and turn right out of car park heading toward the church. Fowey is well worth a visit as you can wonder around the town browsing in the numerous shops. If you're hungry and weather is nice grab a pasty and head for the seats by the harbour wall.

Find this lovely cafe down on the beach only a short walk from Studio Cottage. It has wooden huts to eat in when the weather wet or windy. It also has a licence to serve alcohol. Kayaks are available to hire here too. You can buy all you need to spend the day at the beach. There is a pay & display car park if you prefer to drive.

If you're in Looe and want somewhere to eat a Cornish pasty or enjoy a cream tea then head to Daisys. It's v small so you can't always get a table. Very friendly owners. Excellent home cooked food and cakes.

Wonderful beach but a hike and climb to reach. Worth it if you can. Check tides and go when it is going out not at high tide. National Trust (free to members) carpark a good 15 minutes walk away. Continue and walk the coastal path to Polruan and catch ferry over to Fowey

City advice

What to pack

Download a tide app so you can plan your visit to the beach at low tide.

High tide can leave very little beach so best to visit when the tide is going out so you don't get cut off. Don't forget to pack waterproof beach shoes - the café sells them if you forget. I recommend packing slippers to wear around Studio Cottage. Wellie boots are useful, especially outside of the summer months are they are great to wear when splashing about in rock pools. If you are planning on walking, don't forget to pack a waterproof jacket, sensible study footwear, a rack-sack, drinks & snacks, a sunhat, sun-cream and some money.
