A beutiful glistening cave, always at a comfortable temperature. It's a great reprieve from the heat of the day

A bit over an hour's trip away, you can visit the splendid Cetina river spring. It's deep blue color will mesmerize you, and you can even swim in the spring or downriver. There is also a beautiful 9th century church (Church of holy salvation) nearby, and bike trails around the area.

Klis, often known as Meereen from Game of Thrones, is a gorgeous medievel foretress built on a pass between the Kozjak and Mosor mountains. Great to walk through, and the nearby restaurant Perlica has some of the best spit-roast lamb around. Avoid visiting from 12 to 16 h, the sun can be very harsh

Beach

The most famous beach in split, and a nightlife hub. Sandy beach with ice cream shops, restaurants and coffee shops during the day; night clubs and bars at night. You can often see locals playing a game of picigin in the shallows

The second, smaller sandy beach in Split. The same sand and sea as Bacvice beach, but less crowded, and with less bars and cafes. The nightclub and beach bar Zenta is around the corner

Recreation spots nearby

List of my favorite outdoor recreation spots
Marjan is the lush green hill you see at the tip of the Split peninsula. It has great views, beautiful walking and jogging trails, and is surrounded by several great beaches (Bene, Kašjuni, Ježinac, Prve vode). It is a very popular local retreat from the summer heat, as the deep pine forest provides excellent shade

A formidable but amazing mountain, only 1.5 h drive from Split. Wild horses, a skywalk, stunning views, and a very nice ranch with restaurant. The summit is accessible by car, and hiking here is very popular. If hiking, make sure you are well equipped, have lots of water, and consult the local mountain climbing advice
