If you are looking for reasonably priced kiwi cuisine, the Mornington tavern would be my recommendation, everything from steak and lamb to pavalova!

If you carry on up Pine Hill Road, you will see a signpost heading left that takes you up to Mount Cargill Lookout, panoramic views of Dunedin and surrounds, the entire penninsula and harbour.

If you drive out to osborne Beach, its a very sheltered beach and if you walk up and over the dunes (theres a staircase), to your right is the site of an old Maori pa. Theres nothing left of it.

Tunnel Beach is a it of a walk down a steep hill from the road, its signposted. Theres a bit of history to it. If you look up Cargills Castle, you will find they are linked or ask me when you get here

Its for native birds,its a large new bird sanctuary that has a great cafe and you can go for a walk through it. Its meant to be rodent proof. Its a lovely drive on Blueskin Road.

Its the best 360 degree view of Dunedin, its not on this map as the last five minutes of the road is gravel. Its on Cowan Road, which is right up the top of Pine Hill Road. If you want instructions on how to get there, just ask me. Its the best way of finding your bearings and viewing the lie of the land.
