Unmissable and brilliantly restored, mosque complex-Absolutely worth to visit.
Gebze is the town where Hannibal committed suicide and Sultan Mehmet II died.
Gebze was the last stop on the caravan route from the east to Istanbul and that explains the richness of the mosque complex, which also has a madrasa, a soup kitchen and a tomb.
The interior of the mosques is beautiful - especially the marble and stone work. Much was done by Egyptian craftsmen.

Famous historians of the antique era like Plutarkhos and Pausanias reached an agreement that Hannibal was buried in Gebze. The first time the idea of building a mausoleum here where Hannibal was thought to have been buried was discussed was in 1934 upon the order of Atatürk and this order was realized by the Ministry of Culture in 1981. The mausoleum of the famous Carthaginian commander Hannibal constitutes of a mask on a stone block along with a stone sarcophagus that weighs 24 tons and is situated in the middle of the field surrounded in a circle of cypress trees to the southeast of Gebze. This epigraph which also contains the autobiography of the famous commander was written in Turkish, English, French, German and Italian.

You should visit this zoo with kids. Recommendable to start your visit before afternoon cause it will take nearly 3 hours. There kinds of monkeys, birds, fishes, lion, tiger, zebra, giraffe in the first attraction these are enough I think.
