Food scene

After laying dormant for over a decade, this former tobacco factory has risen again as ‘Tytano’ - a veritable ‘city within the city.’ Inhabiting 15,000m2 and six buildings, Tytano’s sheer size, potential, and post-industrial allure has attracted dozens of young, alternative and original businesses with their fingers on the pulse of current cultural trends, making this artsy, offbeat complex the current place to be in Kraków.

Gin lovers, beware - this is your lair. Aimed at Kraków's growing upper-middle class, MM flaunts a now-familiar post-industrial upscale-urban interior with huge factory windows, two bars and an emphasis on pricey gin mixers and wine. There's also a metropolitan menu of eats - everything from gourmet breakfasts to pizza and pasta to burgers and beef steak, and you should note the weekday specials since prices are otherwise overmarket.

Very nice place with lots of wood, traditional decor of a farm house and waiters wearing traditional costumes. Food is delicious (very big portions), prices are reasonable, full value for money.

Delicious, huge pancakes, you can have salty or sweet ones. Finally something different, not just another chain restaurant. Homemade recipes, vegan and gluten free options available. Big menu to chose from. If you order any hot drink you will get a carrot cake. I love this combination cake + coffee There are also tables in the garden!

An outstanding vegan/vegetarian restaurant in the Tytano complex (a former tobacco factory), Veganic possesses both an elegant backdrop for a romantic dinner, and an enormous garden for hipsters hangabouts (and even a playground for their spawn!). A great place to discover new ingredients, enjoy a wide range of excellent, healthy, vegan and gluten-free breakfasts, soups, pastas, desserts, fruit smoothies and green cocktails.

Located at the heart of the hip Tytano complex, Weźże is Kraków's largest multitap bar, offering 25 craft beers in rotation on draught, plus more in bottles. With an industrial interior of unplastered bricks, columns supporting the ceiling beams, and leather seating, this is a flophouse for hopheads, which spills outside into the adjacent alleys.

It is a great place to try homemade, different kind of liquers (chocolate, orange, strawberry, elder flower, plum and many more. 30 kinds of liquers). Also there are little bottles so you can buy to home or make present for somebody.

Must visit

Wawel Castle was a political and cultural heart of Poland through the 16th century. Now it's a museum with five separate sections: Crown Treasury and Armour, State Rooms, Royal Private Apartments, Lost Wawel and the Exhibition of Oriental Art. Each requires a separate ticket. Of the five, the State Rooms and Royal Private Apartments are the most impressive, but to be honest, the best part is just wandering around the castle grounds - open ^ am to dusk.

The Cloth Hall is a historical building which is especially stunning at night. The architecture is spectacular. Situated in the middle of the Main Square, this hall has lots of little stalls selling a variety of items from regional souvenirs to Polish traditional clothing, wooden toys, delicate hanging ornaments, jewelry (Poland is famous for amazing amber). Great place to just wander up and down. There is no pressure or hassle from stall holders.
