Great place to get fresh produce & fish from the local Chinese markets as well as other ingredients used in East Asian cuisine. Mongkok is our favourite restaurant - we usually order the Peking Duck done 4 ways.

Sanza - the chef & host never disappoints with his Pan-African feasts and endless good conversation and laughter. You might never have visited Yeoville if it weren't for his dinner club so it's definitely worth checking out.

Sundays are never boring with all the markets in Joburg. This is one which is quite central and in a very trendy part of town, Maboneng.

One word: Waffles. But to be fair they have a good selection of filling foods. Better for breakfast & lunch. They also have a decent selection of beers on-tap.

Johannesburg's oldest inner-city township. Don't go as a poverty-porn voyeur but as someone who genuinely wants to understand SA and the everyday life of most people. I recommend Mulaudzi Alex Tours as your guides, they are locals and the tours are by foot or bicycle.

Do it for the gram. You can get your photo with the giant statue of one of SA's heroes. There are some good restaurants surrounding the square and plenty of stores in the mall for you shopaholics.

A new but quickly growing development that accommodates various crafters and artists. From gin to jeans (as in denim), jewellery and photographic prints to vegetables there's a creator behind it. There's also a great fish & chips spot as you enter, if you're hungry.
