The famous Nerja Caves are found in Maro, a district of Nerja (Málaga). They were discovered on the 12th of January 1959 by a group of young locals who were on a late-night walk searching for bats. The Nerja Caves are the perfect place to relive a bit of Nerja’s past. The caves in Nerja have been classed as a “Good of Cultural Interest”, a form of heritage register in Spain. In the Nerja Caves, you and your family will enjoy a 45-minute excursion of one of the most important caves in the World. Here you will find the oldest work of art known to man and also some of the largest rock formations around. In the Nerja Caves there exist 3 galleries, as far as we know. The public gallery, the high gallery, and the new gallery, though at this moment only the public gallery is open to tourists. https://goo.gl/maps/Ai1CHYntceY4HtBq6

The Balcón de Europa is a gorgeous balcony from where you can look over the Mediterranean sea. It’s one of the most popular places in Andalucía, a spot for the perfect photo of the sea, or a photo with the statue of the late king Alfonso XII who actually named this balcony after the big earthquake that hit Nerja in 1884. Back in those days here stood a watch out fort called “Paseo de la Batería” and the king shouted: “this is the Balcón de Europa”. The Balcón de Europa is charming and all the tourists who visit Nerja will visit this balcony. Here you can take a stroll and also watch numerous artists (musicians, painters, jugglers) do their thing. Because it’s in the center of Nerja it’s a great spot to meet your friends or family and have an ice cream on one of the benches or in one of the many bars that surround this balcony. https://g.page/hotelbalconeuropanerja?share

The Cueva del Tesoro is found on one of the Cantales, or small cliffs that make up the limestone headlands that emerged from the sea during the Jurassic era to overlook this part of the Mediterranean coast. The sea is the main agent of erosion that has contributed to the formation of the current relief of the Cantales. Over the millennia caves and cliffs have formed that today are characteristic of this landscape. Rincón de la Victoria has one of only three caves of marine origin known in the world, and the only one of its kind on the European continent; the other two were discovered in Asia and Central America. https://goo.gl/maps/yCCGST9QUisToKWJ9

These tunnels were built in 1908 to house the train track that went from Málaga to Vélez-Málaga. They were in operation until 1968. Today the tunnels serve as a shelter from the sun for walkers, athletes, photographers and all the people who come to enjoy it. El Cantal Promenade communicates with that of Rincon de la Victoria through one of these corridors. From here it is possible to view the entire coast of Malaga. https://goo.gl/maps/bkpMz265PQcdgJrc6

Shopping in Malaga

Calle Larios was opened officially to the public on 27 August 1891 and was designed by engineer José María Sancha and later modified by Manuel Rivera. To build it, the City founded a corporation with capital of one million pesetas –6000 euros in today's money– and the Larios family acquired most of the shares. The architectural and urban value of this area of the city as a harmonious and consolidated whole is undeniable, especially its buildings that were designed by Eduardo Strachan and Viana-Cárdenas. From its origins, Calle Larios was open both to vehicle and pedestrian use until its renovation in 2003, when it became a pedestrian precinct. Besides being a major shopping street, one of the most important in Spain, together with Plaza Constitución, it is an urban space where the city's most important events are held. https://goo.gl/maps/kpPhyN1zr66Si14P7
