Plan to go early. Note: the Lodge burned down in May, 2023. For this reason the number of cars allowed to go to the top has been restricted. There are no services or shelter other than port-a-potties. Check with the Visitor's Center to get the latest info on the situation.

HURRICANE RIDGE ROAD

The road up to Hurricane Ridge is only a half mile up the road from the Visitor’s Center which is only a mile from Rick’s Place. The drive up to the top takes about 30 minutes. On busy days you may have to wait at the bottom for a parking space to open. This is especially important since the Lodge burned down. Check with the Park Visitor's Center for the latest Hurricane Ridge access info.

WATER FALLS 1

SOL DUC FALLS According to Rick the best waterfall in ONP is Sol Duc. There is a fairly long drive up to the trailhead parking lot from the turn-off on Highway 101 just west of Lake Crescent but the walk to the falls is short and easy. If you can only do one, then it should be Sol Duc. There are also two other falls along Highway 101 on the way to Lake Crescent, Forks and Hoh Rain Forest. The first one going west from Port Angeles is MADISON CREEK. The second one is MARYMERE which is half-way between Madison and Sol Duc.
Book before you go

WATERFALLS 2

MADISON CREEK FALLS Going west from Port Angeles turn left off Highway 101 just before crossing the Elwha River bridge. The drive up to the parking lot and the walk from the parking lot are both very short. MARYMERE FALLS Going west on Highway 101 half way up Lake Crescent opposite Lake Crescent Lodge & Storm King Ranger Station turn left on to the short access road to the trailhead. It's a short drive and a short hike. Marymere is #2 on Rick’s list of best falls in the Park.
Book before you go

WATERFALLS 3

SOL DUC, MARYMERE AND MADISON CREEK waterfalls can be visited quite easily in less than half a day and with an early start all three of them can be seen on the drive to the Hoh Rain Forest which is a 2.5 hour drive west of Port Angeles.
