The coffee here is excellent and they always have oat and macadamia milk on hand. They get their pastries from the most yummy spot. Don’t miss the ham and cheese everything croissant!

A bit pricey for the neighborhood but the wine and meat pairings are really great. Not ideal for families (though we brought our baby once) but perfect for a date night.

Great spot for vegetarian and vegan goodies - especially the smoothies, lentil and tofu patties, and the lunch specials at the hot bar. Not to miss!

Great Italian food. Not pricey for NYC but a bit pricey for the neighborhood. If you need a Negroni and a bowl of pasta, this is the place!

Nowhere really to sit but the takeout sushi is excellent. We are huge fans of their rice cups with their flaxseed rice as well as their rolls. We relocated from the east village to here years ago and love that this sushi place beats any reasonably priced sushi takeout in the east village.

Awesome family- run Indian spot! You can see and taste all of the ingredients unlike other Indian spots where everything looks like a purée. Plus, they are so nice! Not a ton of room to sit but a takeout staple.

The line is out the door on the weekends and for good reason. You might feel like you have no idea how to order here (and we once did too) but give it a shot and get some variation of the currant rolls for a truly local Carribean treat!

You can’t tell from the looks of it but this place has the best doubles. They sell out daily so be sure to go during off peak early afternoon hours to get them. Don’t know about doubles? Look it up...but know it’s basically a yummy roti bread with a delicious chickpea stew in the middle. Enjoy!

Sightseeing

We are only a 15 minute walk away from this historic and gorgeous park. Grab a coffee and bagel and enjoy morning sightseeing on a park bench or have a picnic in one of the many fields. If you happen to travel with pets, we love the huge crew of dogs that gather off leash for a weekend runaround.
