Amherstburg is known for its rich history with Navy Yard Park and its sculptures and monuments, the Black History Museum, Fort Malden National Historic Site and Toddy Jones Park all located less than a mile from our home on the Detroit waterfront.

Point Pelee is the southernmost point of mainland Canada. It is part of a bird and butterfly migration corridor over Lake Erie via Point Pelee and the Lake Erie islands. Over 360 bird species have been recorded in the park. More than 100 species of birds and waterfowl stay in the park to breed and nest. Besides being one of the best location for birding, the park is known for its dark skies, unaffected by ambient light. Point Pelee National Park is designated as a Dark Sky Preserve by the Windsor Centre of the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada.
