Fish and Chip shops are a staple in the Kiwi food scene. The Chippery isn't the cheapest (expect to pay $12), but it is fresh and well prepared with many options. Check it out during off peak dining times to avoid crowds.

Sweet Mother's Kitchen was cool before Wellington knew it was cool to be cool. Their American inspired menu is versatile, affordable, and well worth a try for breakfast, lunch, or late night . Quirky atmosphere with some curbside seating.

Hop Garden is our neighborhood craft beer bar with a distinctive and unforgettable atmosphere. It features local beers and has rooftop seating. The ceiling is made of windows allowing the sun to shine through and real plants grow up the walls. The food is pricey, but this is an awesome spot to enjoy a pint and relax for an hour during the day.

This craft beer bar is a hipster haven cluttered with Star Wars action figures. The handlebar mustached bar tenders are happy to personally deliver you pizza from next door. Oh yeah, it's down an alley.

Mt Victoria lookout is a great place to orientate yourself in Wellington with the best views of the city and harbor. Our flat is halfway there! Well worth the 15 minute walk up the trails to take some photos of the panoramic view of New Zealand's capital city.

Shopping

The walk to this underground waterfront market is almost better than the destination. Open on Sundays, it is a cool place to pick up gifts that aren't tacky from local artists, craftsman and entrepreneurs.
