This tea room is in a magnificent setting in the Megalong Valley with a gorgeous garden. Their Devonshire Cream Teas are terrific. It's a very pretty drive to get there - stop at the Mermaid Cave walk +/or go on to the end of the valley and the Dry Ridge Winery.

It's a short drive (or a very steep walk!!) from the cottage to this lovely lookout. The whole of the Kanimbla valleys is laid out beneath you. It faces due west and is great for sunsets. We almost always see kangaroos as we go along Mt Blackheath road for a sunset viewing +/or evening picnic.

Katoomba has some of the most famous tourist spots in the Blue Mountains but also has good shopping, cafes, bars & restaurants. We like the antiques centres and op shops on wet days.

This is a top spot for climbers - and has the advantage of looking straight down on our cottage. There are wonderful walks and views from this starting point.

The vineyard is at the end of the Megalong Valley - where it meets up with the Kanimbla. You have to get there by road but it is a lovely drive and well worth it. The tasting room is usually only open at weekends - check their terrific website.

Neighbourhoods

A lovely village in the upper Blue Mountains. There is a great butcher, two terrific bakeries, a few delis, greengrocers and general stores. There are various pubs/restaurants/cafes, antique and homewares stores and the unique "Victory" old cinema now café and antiques centre, as well as necessities such as bank/PO/Chemists etc. A great place to potter around on a wet day or between walks.
