Hiking and Sightseeing

We really love this hike and it’s only a few minute’s drive from the cabin. Go left on Dimond Ridge road as you leave the cabin and go until you hit the main Sterling Highway intersection. Almost directly across the highway just a bit to the right is the access road for Dimond Creek trailhead. If you park at the first trailhead that has a sign kiosk, it’s about a 1.6 mile walk to the beach. If you drive down the road further until the second trailhead, it’s about 0.6 miles to the beach. This trail can be very slippery and muddy and I don’t recommend doing it after heavy rains. Bring a picnic lunch and try to time your hike around low tide!

They provide fantastic wildlife tours, water taxi services and freight hauling. They offer transportation to two great hikes: The Grewingk Glacier Moraine trail to the Saddle Trail is about a 3 mile easy hike to a glacier lake , and the point-to-point Grace Ridge hike is a gorgeous high alpine trek that takes 5-8 hours.

Ski Trails

This is the trailhead for Sunset Loop, which is on the upper Baycrest trail system. It is a winter-only trail, and is a four minute walk from the cabin. Sunset Loop is a gorgeous 2.75 km Loop with amazing views (especially at Sunset!) and it connects to 15 kms of other ski trails. Parking is in the fire station parking lot, behind the building.

Lookout Mountain ski trails are a world-class ski trail system. There is a large, flat hayfield loop as well as very challenging and hilly terrain in the remainder of the trail system. In the spring, a connector trail connects Lookout and Baycrest.
