Food scene

Cali Burrito is part of a Nashville local chain, Oscar’s Taco’s. Their quest and chips are amazing, there’s a salsa bar and lots of fare on the menu. Our favorites are anything with the steak and the rolled chicken tacos (fried). If getting to go, ask for toppings to be put on the side. This is the go-to for N. Spring Hill locals who want fresh fast food that is good and owned/operated locally.

Hattie Jane’s is in the historic downtown of Columbia, about 15-20 minute drive, but the downtown is full of quaint local shops and antiques and is worth a stop as it all revolves around a historic courthouse. We love the “Muletown Kick” coffee ice-cream, made with Muletown coffee from a block away, and the Honeycomb Ice Cream. It’s next door to the Nashville staple, Puckett’s.

This unassuming little doughnut place is Ah-Ma-Zing! Their apple fritters are the best around. It’s locally owned and also has a Korean bowl takeout inside. Beware, the doughnuts are huge! When Spring Hill folks talk about “the good donut place”, they mean this place because it’s better than Dunkin!

We have yet to eat here, but have heard wonderful things about this “sit down” Italian restaurant. It’s a fairly new eatery and also owned by one of our neighbors!

Who doesn’t love a southern brunch in a historic Victorian house in old town Franklin? Be aware of wait times because this place is super popular! Their biscuit-donuts served piping hot with homemade berry jam is worth the trip!

One of the most beautiful neighborhoods in the area is the historic downtown of Franklin, just a 10-20 minute drive (depending on traffic). Mellow Mushroom, though not a local chain, is some of the best pizza around and sits on the corner of the historic square in Franklin. Our favorite pizza there is the “Great White” and we add chicken and bacon. Their spinach salad is a favorite too for lighter fare.

Southern Hospitality isn’t dead!

You will notice that people in Spring Hill and the greater Nashville area are naturally outgoing and friendly. Expect to be waved out and greeted by strangers and chit-chat from service workers at local shops and restaurants. It’s the “Dolly Parton effect” and we love being part of the great state of Tennessee and are proud of Music City and our local hometowns!
