Great put put golf and an even better "jungle run" animal encounter. Rent a golf cart there for $8-$10 and drive through the Jungle Run, it's fun and you can stop and take as much time as you want to feed the goats, camel, peacocks, sheep, zebra, horses, & more.

Great walking spot, special area to safely bike or walk over the dam. Take a tour to see how they furnish the local electricity! Watch boats and barges lock through the dam. Awesome place to bow fish too or fish off the bank.

3 miles from us this place is a must see if you love the water, nature & history. When the gates are ALL open, seeing and feeling the power of that water is awesome! Check out the visitor's center to get into about the hydro-electricity generated here and the history of the building of this dam. If you love to walk there's a 2 miles stretch across the dam that's perfect for walking or biking with the best view ever!

Quaint local small town of Metropolis, Il. 30-35 miles from us. The Superman celebrations are an annual thing and very big deal for this little river city! Worth the trip across the bridge!

Nostalgic Drive-In Theatre with first-run movies! The little grill in the concession stand is famous for the best cheeseburgers around! Great spot for the family! We go early and take chairs to sit on outside. The kids love running & playing with all the other children before the movie starts. Family owned and packed every weekend for 50++ years! Check it out! Highly recommend! (but take your mosquito spray)

My personal favorite full service marina! Large campground, we left a camper here year round when my children were young. They also have decent restaurant on the grounds, Harbour House Restaurant & a small grocery.

New park, well maintained, excellent marked walking trails, dogs allowed on leash. Disk golf as well as fishing in the park under gazebo. Perfect spot for a picnic & only 2 1/2 miles from my home.

There's a line every night but you can call ahead for take out or reservations.. It's worth a try just to feed the fish, turtles and fowl who live outside in the lake. (They give you hushpuppies to feed them under their covered gazebo)

They're famous for the 2 inch pork chop but it's all good and take time to walk around the grounds, absolutely stunning! Reservations required as of 2020 due to it's grand re-opening and the crowds who flock there!
