Pluto's Cave is a partially collapsed lava tube on the northern outskirts of Mount Shasta. Its main entrance is located close to the 99-97 Cutoff. A pretty loop through interesting, volcanic, high desert terrain. Below ground, one can explore Pluto Cave, an ancient lava tube that extends over a mile under ground.

Ashland, Oregon and Lithia Park

An hour north. Great town and great shopping if you have the time. Downtown has quaint unique shops, a theatre and plenty of great restaurants. Lithia Park is gorgeous and has 2 awesome playgrounds for kids and you can walk around the park for a few hours - much to see. Same architect that built Golden Gate Park in San Francisco!
