If you are willing to put up with a 35 minute drive we definitely recommend Hungry Sumo as our go-to for Thai and sushi. Our favorite sushi options are La Fiesta and Angry Sea. You really can't go wrong with a dish at this spot. *Be advised: As of 3/28/21 this restaurant is take-out only.*

One of Racine's claims to fame is a Danish pastry called a kringle. If you haven't had one before I recommend it as a great thing to pair with your coffee. They also have lots of donuts to choose from as well.

Danny's is a meat market, but they also have a great grill if you want some burgers or sandwiches to-go and only want to drive a short distance. Some of our favorite items on their grill menu are the Reuben, baby-back ribs, hot garlic wings, and pretty much any of their burgers. Access the grill menu here. http://www.paradiseccc.com/menu.html If you are a beef jerky fan they have some really good stuff. We also enjoy their smoked salmon. They offer Boar's Head lunch meats and cheeses if your group would enjoy some sandwiches during your stay.

Our favorite spot for Mexican food. Lots of great options on the menu. They also have family meals (taco bar, fajita bar and pork carnitas options) that generally feed 4-6 adults and are pretty inexpensive. Our family of six can usually get two meals out of one order of the carnitas and it costs less than $40.

If you want Thai food that is close by this is the best spot. A great spot for to-go food. Favorite dishes are Green Curry and Volcano Chicken. Meals typically come without too much spice, but they can definitely add it, if that is your thing. The owner always greets you with a giant smile.

If you are doing a day trip to Milwaukee this is a great place to catch breakfast or brunch. Occasionally there is a long wait, but there is a reason for that. The food is fantastic!

If you are looking for a high-end date night filled with great service and food that will make your taste buds sing I definitely recommend Sanford. We typically spend $150 per person when we go, so we save it for special situations. If you are someone who is a major foodie and loves incredible food and wine pairings this is the spot. I would recommend getting a reservation as soon as possible if you would like to get in. Sometimes they are booked out pretty far in advance. Not recommended for kids.

City advice

What to pack

Clothing

Almost the entire home's flooring is porcelain tile. So bring your cozy house slippers. The property and surrounding area is a great place for kids to get outside and play. So bring clothes they can get dirty in and good outside boots. Wind Point earns its name. Occasionally it can feel 10 to 15 degrees cooler than it does just a mile inland due to the wind. Not every day, but sometimes the temp can read 70º in Racine, but feel like 60º in Wind Point. Just an FYI for packing clothes.
Travelling with kids

Bikes, Scooters & Games

We have four bikes that will fit kids age 6-12+. Three are smaller (fit our 7, 9 and 11yr old) and one that any older kid/adult could ride. If any tires need to be aired up use the air compressor that powers with your car's lighter adapter. We also have four scooters for kids to enjoy as well. There are corn hole boards and bags you can use that are located in the garage. Boards will be on the side of the garage and bags are located on the wire racks. If you want to play a game like baseball we would ask that you play it at the park (which is a short walk away) for any errant foul balls. ;)

Favorite Hiking Spots

A few of our favorite spots to hike: Seven Bridges - (25 min drive) - Beautiful scenic area that is a great hiking spot for a family. Has a beach area where you can pick up sea glass or skip rocks. Our kids always have a blast. Petrifying Springs Park - (25 min drive) - This is a pretty spacious area that has lots of trails and a ton of spots where kids can play. If you are more into a spot with a play area than this is your spot. Bender Park - (20 min drive) - I haven't hiked this location yet, but apparently its a nice place to get outside and enjoy views of Lake Michigan as well.
