For THE best gourmet fried chicken sandwhich (called "The Reiff"), try the Bantam Chicken and Seafood. Chef Daunte is a local gem and everything we've tried on the menu has been wonderful! It's a quick 7-10 minute drive.

The carmelized onion and cheese empanada is fantastic! For that matter, all the empanadas are great! They now offer sandwhiches as well. It's a tiny building with some outdoor (only) seating near Howard Park. A great place to grab lunch before taking a stroll along the river (across the street) or ice skating (across the street) in the winter!

Fine Dining

Upscale and a little pricy but toally worth it. The hazelnut mushroom soup is to die for. The interior (it was once a bank in it heyday!) features a 2-story high ceiling and amazing turn-of-the-century architectural details. It's the perfect spot for a romantic date, a cocktail before a show at the Morris, or an afternoon lunch outside.

Best breakfast!

A small, hometown breakfast experience. It's a hidden, underrated gem. Barack Obama even ate here when he cams to South Bend! We highly recommend the asparagus omelet (when they feature it on their specials menu) though all their food is great!

Best Sunday buffet/brunch ever! Just a short walk away. Historic mansion. More food than you can eat and simply divine. Between the delicious food and the atmosphere of this historic Victorian mansion...it's an experience that everyone who visits South Bend should try at least once.

Cool Cafe Vibes

Excellent sandwiches in a cool cafe. The service is excellent. Next to Chimichurri and across the street from Howard Park. Just a 5 minute drive.
