A great place for a romantic meal or special celebration. Named in tribute to the historic Hudson Valley and the ingredients this bountiful land yields, the restaurant features Seasonal American Cuisine showcasing fresh products from our own Garrison Farm as well as other farms in the region. The Terrace Grill is our casual outdoor restaurant. Open daily, it serves "grab and go" morning fare for early risers and golfers followed by a freshly prepared menu of salads, burgers and sandwiches for lunch or afternoon light meal.

COLD SPRING, Putnam County (87 acres)—Hikers at West Point Foundry Preserve enjoy a tranquil soundtrack—the gentle murmur of Foundry Brook. That's a far cry from the din greeting 19th-century visitors to the sprawling West Point Foundry that filled this ravine. Established in 1818 to supply the U.S. government with artillery, the ironworks employed hundreds of workers who produced some of America's first steam engines, locomotives and ironclad ships, as well as pipes for New York City's water system and Parrott guns, cannon credited with winning the Civil War. The foundry's owners also were business pioneers, among the first to control every aspect of manufacturing, from raw material to prod

Parking (2 cars) on South Highland Road across from the PRIVATE Garrison Fish & Game Club, with additional parking along the road further east. This unblazed trail is well maintained and relative- ly easy to follow. Start at the iron gate across from the game club and follow the trail into the woods. At the first intersection, take the right hand path, which will cross a stream. Take the right hand path again at the second intersection, at a grove of tall pines, and a right again at the third intersec- tion, about another 1/2 mile along the trail. The trail ends in a clearing with the remains of a chim- ney from an estate believed to have burned in the 1960s. To the west are fantastic views

Parking for 8-10 cars is available at an official hiker’s parking lot. To reach it, drive between two stone pillars entitled “Wing & Wing” and “Castle Rock” on the east side of Route 9D, 1/2 mile south of Route 403, and follow the road as it bears left past the red barn to the lot. On the hill is Castle Rock, a privately owned Cinderella-style castle built in 1881 by William Henry Osborn (with advice from his friend, painter Frederick Church). for details on this hike and others in the area, go to. http://philipstown.com/22.pdf
