On the drive way to Clingmans Dome, you will have many opportunities to explore the misty mountain and to see truly stunning panoramic views of the Smokies. It is a bit cold when we went in summer, so bringing a jacket would be a great idea.

It is one of the shorter trails in the mountain and is pretty busy. The waterfall is at the end the trail and plenty of opportunities to take good photos. We would recommend to go early to secure a parking spot.

The alum cave trail is 4.4 miles roundtrip and includes 1,125 feet of elevation gain. This is the most interesting trail for me, as there are plenty of sights like Arch Rock and Mount LeConte. In general it was really fun but quite challenging. It will take you several hours, so be prepared.
