One of our personal favourites for some exercise up and down the cathedral steps (like Rocky Balboa).
It is actually named the Cathedral Church of theHoly Spirit, butmore commonly known as Guildford Cathedral.
You can see the catherdral from various spots around the town centre and get there on foot in around 25minites from the house.
The cathedral is regularly open for services; have a look online forup to date information. It also features in several films including horrorfilm The Omen.

The gardens of the castle have wonderful floral displays and are open from 8am to dusk throughout the year and are free to enter. Take the time to find the life-size statue of Alice Through the Looking Glass.

A must visit for any gin lovers to try the silent pool gin. The sustainable gin distillery is adjacent to the Silent Pool, which dates back to the the Ice Age and isrenowned for its tranquility and natural beauty. It is located in a semi-rural area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in Surrey Hills. We would highly recommend a visit!

A place of calm, grace and subtle beauty
St Martha's Hill is a beautiful peacefullyspot with quaint church and far reaching views. It's a great walk from Chantry Wood to St Martha's.

Outdoors
You can access the River Wey, also known as Guildford Canal within a few minutes walk of the house, by turning left out of the house, through the cutway and over the pedestrian bridge. You can either leave at the firs set of steps/slope and stay on the left-hand side of the road walking past Lidl and over the river before you can enter the towpath on the left-hand side (if you've reached B&Q you'vegone too far).
Alternatively, you can cross the entire length of the pedestrian bridge or cross over the road and meet the river on the righthand side of the road. If you walk along the canal for aout 20 minutes you'll arrive in Guildford Town centre. If you follow the canal beyond the twon centre you can enjoy some lovely peaceful rural views.
The towpath is suitable for both walking, running and cycling but please remember it is narrow so be respectful of other users.
The canal is peaceful and used by canal barges. You can also enjoy it for paddleboarding and kayaking.

Can't recommend this place enough, it really is quite magical! Chantry wood has lovely open spaces, magical woods and great views! It has access to the North Downs Way for some lovely longer walks. It's one of 9ur favourite running spots and we would highly recommend a visit!

Guildford Lido is now reopen for outdoor swimming, but you need to book in advance. The Lido includes a heated Olympic sized swimming pool, 3 exciting new slides, a paddling pool with interactive toys and a mini slide for the very little ones. Guildford Lido is great for all the family to chill out, meet friends, picnic and of course do some serious swimming. However we have not been since the start of the pandemic, so would recommend you have a look online to see what current restrictions are in place.
