Things to do

The blue flag beach is such a close walk from Lundy View. Great opportunities for sunbathing, playing in the sea, surfing, kitesurfing. For the little ones the beach is gradually sloping and sandy, lifeguards in the summer and the rock pools are great for exploring and climbing around. Lots of different options for food, drinks and ice cream close by. A small number of amusements, go karting (height restricted) and crazy golf. We have left our sea kayak and paddle for you to use. If you have a life jacket please bring this as we do not have a spare. Please only use if you are confident and safe.

Lovely place to walk the dog, again just a stones throw from the house. We like to walk along the edge of the Burrows to Appledore (joi s the South West Coast Path which usually takes about 40 minutes and get a well deserved coffee and pint at the end. Our recommendations would be The Beaver and Coffee Cabin but lots of good options.

Explore parts of the Tarka Trail , an old train line, which runs from Barnstaple to Meeth. From Bideford you can enjoy a cycle ride to Fremington where there is a lovely cafe. Or towards Torrington where there is another cafe called The Puffing Billy.

Takeaways and Eating out Local Area Takeaways The Pig and Olive Pizzas. At the bottom of Pebbleridge Rd. Recommend. Lovely to order and sit on the pebble ridge with a bottle of wine on a summer’s eve. Atlantic Bay Fish and Chips. Can be ordered online and collected. Hong Kong Diner Chinese Takeaway The Spice Indian in Bideford Restaurants Pig on the Beach. Nice pies and pizzas. Now offering outdoor bar. Tea on the Green. Huge cakes and cream teas. Café Italia (never eaten here) Pier House, amazing views over the bay. Country Cousins (apparently a good carvery that has been recommended but never been there ourselves) Morans- Thai food. Lovely, gets busy, you’ll need to book. There are many more lovely options in Appledore and Instow. If you want a decent coffee, Main Sail tea room do a very good one and Coffee Cabin in Appledore does the best in our opinion with nice options for sitting outside on the quay.
