These are the restaurants we like to frequent. Many offer takeout options for you to order, pickup, and enjoy at the cottage by the fire table, lake or nestled inside on the couches. We’ve noted which restaurants offer the takeout option, as well as their phone number and website. When possible, we’ve included the menu as well. Enjoy!
Kaizen has the most amazing sushi. It’s also where Bobby and I went on our first date (and frequented at least once a week in the early days). If we were going, we’d order: edamame, seaweed salad, gyoza and crab rangoons as our apps. The hibachi filet entree (filet cooked in garlic butter and soy sauce served over steamed vegetables and steamed rice) and two rolls: the bul goki roll, add cream cheese (Korean marinated tenderloin beef, sweet potato, cucumber, avocado, and unagi sauce) and the sexy roll. Honestly, take a few minutes to look over their signature rolls. You will not be disappointed. Kaizen is definitely a crowd pleaser and one of our very favorite places to reconnect. 479 Main Street, Sturbridge 508-347-1088

Porterhouse is our go-to for an app & drink, takeout and late-night appetizer, entree, dessert, and night-cap kinda date night. My best friend Matt says they have “the best wings in Sturbridge, hands down, no one even comes close.” We like that they are committed to sourcing the highest quality, locally grown, sustainable ingredients. Their menu features starters, shared sides (ahem Truffle Mac&Cheese), entrees (and veggies) and steaks & chops. Desserts like creme brûlée, too. The menu changes frequently with their focus on seasonal ingredients. The atmosphere is modern with a rustic flair added by their one-of-a kind concrete “reclaimed wood” flooring. The bar stays open after the kitchen closes, and a comfortable piano bar, lounge, and dining area is available for private parties. There is an outdoor dining area during the summer and fall seasons, too.

Raw bar (oysters!), crafted cocktails, frequent menu changes, and daily specials. They sometimes have a scallop special that is out of this world. We love their crab cakes. (508) 347-2600 Lunch & Dinner, open at noon

Hot pot and sushi - what more could you ask for when you’re craving Japanese food? I don’t really like working for my food when I go out to eat 🤪 so I prefer not to get the hot pot, but it’s a fun experience if you’re with a cool group of people. The veggie/mushroom/protein options are superb. Fun story - I used to teach yoga at Baba on Sunday mornings at 10am. The restaurant moved all of the tables and let me teach in front of the fireplace. There is a beautiful cathedral beam ceiling with skylights. When I first moved to Sturbridge, it was a coffee shop! If you see Sarah, the manager, let her know I sent you! ♥️

Quintessential New England fare. Try the Thanksgiving dinner, definitely ask for rolls and don’t be afraid to peek into the bake shop - delicious!

Local Thai chain serving curries, noodles & other traditional dishes in a relaxed, stylish setting. I typically order the fresh spring rolls with peanut sauce and pad Thai. Their menu is chock full of delicious apps and meals. In the fall, they offer a harvest chicken that is out of this world and in very high demand!

People travel hundreds of miles for BTs BBQ. The owner, Brian, is an incredibly talented chef and good friend of ours. He’s a class act. His restaurant started as a food stand at the Brimfield Antique Show. He’s since opened 2 restaurants - one in Sturbridge and another in Worcester. Grab some on your way to Treehouse, after a hike or to enjoy on the back patio with the fire table 🔥
