A Houston classic and Beyonce’s favorite restaurant. Line out the door every weekend, so make sure you get there right when it opens (or 15-30 minutes before) if you don’t want to wait. Famous for their chicken and waffles but the fried catfish and grits dish is also delicious!

Beautiful bakery and restaurant with outdoor seating. Great for weekend brunch or afternoon tea. Worth the visit even if just for their cookies (they have a “Milk and Cookies” stand right next door) - melt in your mouth deliciousness!

Great place for your standard American food. Dog friendly so you’ll see several owners and their furry friends on the porch. Burgers come with a mountain of fries (you can upgrade to waffle or sweet potato fries) and they don’t skimp out on sauces. We like their bulls-eye sauce (honey mustard and bbq sauce). Their salads are also HUGE.

A slight fusion of Sichuan and Taiwanese food. Be warned - it can get spicy! Good lunch specials and you’ll see it frequented by physicians and Rice students.

Located in Houston’s original Chinatown/Viet-town. Come here for authentic Vietnamese food staples, such as egg rolls, banh mi sandwiches, vermicelli soups (the bun bo hue is delicious), and banh xeo (think crispy giant crepe). There is plenty of parking in the gated lot. They’re open 9am-6pm everyday except Saturday.

Less than $10 for a delicious meal and appetizer, you can’t go wrong with this Houston staple. They rush you a bit when you order, but it’s an incredible bang for your buck. We recommend their pho, charbroiled sliced pork and rice plate, and bo kho (beef stew) with a side of french bread.

Our favorite place to chill. The service is incredible and very knowledgeable and passionate about all things wine. The place is BYOFood, so if you want to UberEats something while you drink, go ahead! If wine isn’t your thing you can also bring beer over from the brewery next door.
