Neighborhoods

The French Quarter is the city’s historic heart, famous for its vibrant nightlife and colorful buildings with cast-iron balconies. Bourbon Street features jazz clubs, Cajun eateries and bars. Quieter streets lead to the French Market, with gourmet food and local crafts, and to Jackson Square where street performers entertain in front of soaring St. Louis Cathedral.

Melpomene and the surrounding streets (Urania, Thalia, Euterpe, Calliope, Clio, Erato, Terpsichore, and Polyhymia) are named after the 9 Greek muses. The Lower Garden District and these streets were designed and named by Barthelemy Lafon, a smuggler and pirate turned architect and surveyor. Coliseum Square, a three block long park in the center of the District, was intended as the site of a coliseum, and Annunciation Square as the site of a great cathedral. They were never built.

My favorite restaurant in the French Quarter. It's beautiful and full of history. The Court of Two Sisters is more than a restaurant – it’s a legend. Enjoy luscious Creole and Cajun cuisine. Pass through our Charm Gates. Make a wish in the Devil’s Wishing Well. And hear the story of Emma and Bertha, the two sisters who ran a notions shop once upon a time in the French Quarter. Try going for jazz brunch!

A family favorite! Located right on St. Charles Avenue, it is known for it's authentic Louisiana seafood and Creole-inspired dishes at an affordable price. It is also home to the only full-service Oyster Bar on St. Charles. Try the crawfish cornbread.

Our recommendation for a celebration dinner! This elegant creole restaurant is upscale and more expensive than the other recommendations. It has an extensive wine and spirits menu and a comfortable atmosphere. A fun choice if you want to dress up!

Sightseeing

My favorite place in New Orleans! City Park is 1,300 acres and is approximately 50% larger than Central Park in New York City! Enjoy beautiful walks, majestic live oak trees, putt-putt golf, playgrounds, museums and more! Bonus: there is a less crowded Cafe Du Monde in City Park!

This is a great zoo for the entire family! Audubon Park is also home to the Tree of Life (you can sometimes see the zoo's giraffes from the location!)

The National WWII Museum tells the story of the American experience in the war that changed the world—why it was fought, how it was won, and what it means today—so that all generations will understand the price of freedom and be inspired by what they learn.

New Orleans is infamous for its spooky past, filled with tales of voodoo, vampires, ghosts, and witches. During these walking tours, you will guided by someone who knows the quickest routes around the Big Easy and brings the folklore and history of the city to life, all during the creepiest time of day—the night! There are multiple companies available for these tours as well.
