Lovely setting under large trees next to a small river. Good stop for coffee and cake or pancakes or light meals during the day. Highly recommended.

With a French chef and his South African wife, this place a a winner. Relaxed suppers outside or inside with stunning views of the Langeberg mountains, and very good food, 250m from Lynette's Cottage, this is a favourite with tourists from overseas. . Very reasonably priced.

About 10 km from Swellendam is the Bontebok National Park. It is a carnivore free park, so only Buck species are preserved here, of which the Southern Cape Bontebok are the prime inhabitant. It is ideal for bird watching and small animal watching. Plenty of tortoises in the park. There is a rest camp next to the Breede river where you can go for short walks as well as an information centre
