This historic market town is seen as the gateway to the Lake District. Lots of great pubs to explore for real ale - The Tap, Barrel House, Handsome Brewery, The Lakes Brew Co, The Fell and Ye Old Fleece Inn...all independent brewerys not to be missed! Why not take a atroll up to the castle wheee Katherine Parr (one of Henry VIII wives) was said to have lived. Can't not mention Method cafe and No4 Bakery if you have earnt a sweet treat after your walk. 👍

This historic village has it all. Great places to eat and drink in Tweedies bar. Historic walks around the former home of William Wordsworth at Dove nest cottage to many great walks up Easdale tarn, Helm Cragg or Alcock tarn. There is even a great new playpark for the kids.
