Excellent takeaway pizzas, open later than many of the restaurants and cafes, so great for evening munchies and really close to the flat.

Popular Kemptown local gastro pub, great for a pint (or cocktails) and lunch or dinner. NB food is quite gourmet but portions are correspondingly quite small! Not the place if you want to gorge, but everything tastes delicious.

Vegan pizzas and other inventive vegan Italian dishes, such as the delicious dough balls which ooze with molten cheese (you’d never guess their vegan cheese had a coconut oil base).

Classic seaside pub, spacious and full of sunshine, with panoramic sea views. Good and plentiful bistro food - we love the fish pie and smoked mackerel pate with hunks of granary toast.

This is an absolute treat. It's a drive/bus ride away in Hove, but so worth the 15 minute journey. Delicious, inventive, freshly cooked tapas, such as the sublime goats' cheese churros with truffle honey, or slow cooked lamb with yogurt and lentils, and amazing ice creams - try the yogurt sorbet doused in sweet Pedro Ximenez sherry!
