City advice

Car Rentals

Renting a car from someone local is typically $60-$100/day, depending on the vehicle and pick-up arrangements. An additional delivery fee is usually added on for airport delivery to ELH or GHB. We suggest requesting an SUV to better explore the island. It's best to arrange rental car availability in advance, via WhatsApp: Robert +1 (242) 470-0311 OR e-mail Tiffany - mydaddyjoeseleu@gmail.com *they include a grocery & liquor store run during transportation from the airport to your rental car Wallace +1 (242) 359-7294 Chris +1 (242) 553-6638 Ted / Morgan +1 (242) 470-0376
Customs and culture

Cash is King

It's always useful to come with plenty of cash, as some places don't accept credit/debit cards. There are only two ATM's - in Governor's Harbour and on Harbour Island (RBC behind Valentine's), so it's best to be prepared in case they're down because that does happen sometimes. Plus, the ATM's charge an exorbitant amount for international withdrawals. The good news is the currency exchange rate is the same as USD and we would be happy to trade you out for your Bahamian cash before you leave.
Don't miss

Eleuthera Island Farm in Palmetto Point

CLOSED DURING HURRICANE SEASON! FRESHLY BAKED BREAD AVAILABLE ON TUESDAYS & FRIDAYS - we go there every week to provision for groceries and buy local produce, frozen meats & seafood. Open 9am - 4pm, closed on Sundays.
Don't miss

Schedule a Massage

Michele is a local massage therapist who will comes to the cottage and sets up on the back deck - book services via WhatsApp +1 (242) 551-3095.
What to pack

Plan Ahead

There are many tide pools and beaten paths to explore, so be sure to pack water shoes for navigating the rocky terrain. Eleuthera is not a fancy scene, so you won't need to bring heels for wearing out since most places are casual. We also recommend packing your own REEF SAFE sunscreen.
Getting around

BEWARE OF QUEEN'S BATH

PLEASE CHECK THE WEATHER & TIDES AND PAY ATTENTION TO WARNINGS AT QUEEN'S BATH / NEAR GLASS WINDOW BRIDGE. Exercise caution or avoid these areas during an ocean rage. Rogue waves are known to come through, which can be very dangerous for unsuspecting tourists. PLEASE BE CAREFUL :)
