Food scene

This is our favorite place to get cocktails. They usually have a DJ playing groovy, modern psychedelic music with outdoor heaters and fire options. The food is ok, but not the main event.

If you you want to experience food carts, you'll do great here with lots of choices and a nice atmosphere. Bella's Cravings makes unique five star dishes. The beer cart has great options with a super friendly owner who decks out his cart real nice. There are plenty of heaters to enjoy it year-round. It doesn't have a sports vibe but is actually a great place to watch games when they are on.

We love the Shoyu here, but all their options are good. I add the egg, and of course saki.

There are plenty of grocery stores nearby if you google them. To be frank, this one is mostly just ok--but we love that it's walking distance and good for basics and vegetables.

Hands down the best sushi in town. There is as closer location, but this one makes for a visit to 23rd avenue which is nice to explore. Also, at this one you can sit at the sunken sushi bar where you get to watch the chefs in action. It's not the cheapest sushi--but cheap sushi is never a great idea in my opinion!

The popularity of this hike kept my rebellious side from trying it for 25 years! That was a big mistake. It's spectacular. Try to go during off-peak hours. You can make it as long or short as you like, but longer is better.

The west side has a bigger and better rose garden, but this is just a short walk away and really--how many rose varieties will you actually look at anyway? It is truly amazing and makes for a great walk where you'll see many of our historic homes, trees and much more. It's also a nice morning run.

Walk over the Tillicum Crossing Bridge and take the tram up and down for a very modest fee. It's a one two punch where you'll get the best views in town.
