Public transport is great here!
All public transport, including trains tubes busses overground etc. accept contactless and very reliable.
There are many bus routes which operate 24 hours meaning you will always be able to get home especially here in Charing Cross as there are over a dozen night busses within a 10 minute walk radius.
Tip: Make sure to get your card out at the ready before you get to the barriers as people move quite fast in London and may be frustrated if you stop in their path.
