If you have time, highly recommend driving to Blowing Rock. The cute downtown has a nice selection of restaurants, coffee shops, and many home decor/antique shops and art galleries. You can easily spend a day exploring here. The drive from Banner Elk to Blowing Rock is easily one of our favorite routes.
