The Schoodic Peninsula section of Acadia is actually located on the mainland in Winter Harbor. Schoodic Point is an incredible scenic area along the rocky coast and is a great place to watch the waves crash against the shore. This part of the park is generally more quiet than Mount Desert Island.

One of the most popular trails in Acadia, and for good reason. I highly recommend you arrive as early as you can to avoid crowds. Stunning views of the coast & Sand Beach. It’s a short 1.5 loop trail, but note that if you are afraid of heights this hike may not be for you, and there is climbing involved.

One of the most popular destinations in Acadia (especially at sunrise), Cadillac stands as the parks’ highest peak. The 3 mile scenic drive to the top requires a $6 vehicle reservation online through Recreation.gov. There are restrooms, a gift shop, and stunning overlooks at the summit. You can also hike one of the four strenuous, but rewarding, trails to the top.
