This trail traverses just south of the house and goes for miles all the way down to lake Washington to the SE. It's fun to walk and ride esp on a clear day with great views of rainier and the ocean, depending on your direction. Although you are in the city you can feel like you are alone in a big field in parts.

This is an absolutely stunning free city park on the north side of downtown Seattle and a must-see for plant lovers who like botanical gardens. The park was designed by Olmstead as part of his Seattle ring of parks (he designed over a dozen parks in the city as well as connecting boulevards) - but this is the crown jewel. Beautifully maintained with many rare specimens, mature flowering trees and lovely paths. Also has a a beautiful Japanese garden.

If you are looking for something to do as a tourist, you can hardly beat taking the public ferry from downtown Seattle to and from Bainbridge island (or any of the islands) on a nice day. Stunning views of the islands and city in both directions and it's fun to walk around Bainbridge if you have an hour or two. The main fun is in the views on the ferry ride, though.
