Entertainment & Activities

Visiting the Elephant Seal Rookery is better than any trip to the zoo! These amazing animals are in their natural habitat, laying on the beach at various stages in their life cycle. Sometimes it's the massive males, other times the mothers are with the pups. They seem to enjoy checking people out as much as we like watching them. It's a great easy drive from the house (15 min) has good parking and it's free!

Everything Else

There are several winery tasting rooms in downtown Cambria. We recommend Stolo (at east end of town a 10 min drive) for an authentic tasting experience on the estate. Beautiful scenery and outside patio lawn (bring some snacks!) Otherwise, Twin Cotyotes is a fun, upbeat West Village downtown experience, featuring delicious Paso Robles wines. Another favorite is located at Sebastians, the historic market at San Simeon State Beach, where they pour Hearst Wines. This fantastic spot on the coast to get a feel for the Hearst history without doing a full castle tour. They also have a nice little food/lunch spot inside the quaint, working post office/tasting area. It can get busy at times, but you can always find a little spot to savor and enjoy!
