A great bar menu with food theme nights. Monday and Tuesday are gaumet burger nights. Wednesday is Trivial Pursuit game night. Thursday enjoy delicious pasta and Friday is steak night. Family friendly dining with a lovely view of the great Wanganui river.
If you prefer restaurant dining then the dining room upstairs is a must. The quality, taste and presentation of the food is outstanding.
They also do amazing breakfasts.

It’s a 5 minute walk from the cottage. The food is excellent. They have a children’s menu and it’s a pleasant place to be overlooking the river. Always very busy but they have plenty of space. Restaurant and Sports bar.

The elevator takes you up through the hill to the iconic Durie Hill Tower. You can walk to the top where you can take in the magnificent views. On a clear day you can see the South Island, Mt Taranaki and Mt Ruapehu. The elevator operates between 10am and 5pm and costs $2 each way.

This garden is a garden of national significance in NZ. It is gorgeous and well worth the 15-20 minute drive. There are several different gardens and 2 aboretea. Definitely recommend this to visit! Pack a picnic and spend the day wandering the property.
